Doll Dying Adventure 2! Vinyl Dying

Hey guys,

So I finally have some good news.. and some bad news! The good news is that I had some spare change so I ordered the eyes that I envisioned for my girls. They have arrived and I've taken a few photos. Overall I love all of the colours, Shiera and Tai's eyes really suit them but I think I would have liked Reily's eyes to be brighter. Regardless I'm glad she can get out of those terrible pale and lifeless eyes.

Secondly I finally dyed Tai! She is permanently rit dyed a orange-brown and ohh boy was it an adventure! I suffered some burnt hands and dyed nails but I feel it was worth it. The bad news is that I accident broken parts from her armature in both arms soo she's temporarily an amputee, a very cute amputee <3

I'll definitely order her a new set in the future but until then I found a temporary way to keep her arms attached and so far its working out. A lesson well learned but at least I know now that the ball joints WILL dye and are not difficult to take. The only problems I encountered were some parts of the ball joints dyed faster then others so it took some effort to match the colours. An important rule while dying vinyl is to always keep the piece moving in the pot so it can get coated evenly and doesn't get burnt on the bottom.

Well that's it for now, who know what I'll be up to next ;)

(Tai laying in pieces)

 (Colour combo choices)

(Recipe I modded, used pack of orange and about 3 tea spoons black)

(Tai strung and ready to go)

 (Boiling the dye)

(Getting ready to dip hip joint test piece)

 (First dip for 5 seconds)

(The dye took right away, colour difference)

(Second dip an other 5 seconds)

 (Third dip 10 seconds)

(Sadly a piece from the elbow ball joint snapped while I was trying to get it apart)

(Different parts of the ball joint dye faster)

(A bit of progress, had to redip to get similar colours)

(White skin L-Bust and normal skin dynamite bust still came out the same colour)

(Here are the results and comparison to old colour headcap)

(Thought I'd give her a slightly different faceup)

 (Me working on Tai's eyes)

(Closer look at me working)

(Finished faceup and new eyes)

(Back in normal attire and wig, yay Tai!)

(Made a new dress for her)
(Now Tai can be a true gyaru <3)

New year, New post

Hey guys!

Thankfully the holidays are over and we're into a new year! Christmas was alright but sadly I didn't get to order any doll items. However I did find some cute accessories in the gift section at the local Walmart. In comparison to my old Wild Cherry Pepsi lip gloss, these bottles have updated labelling and now they have a set of the can versions. They were only $5 a package, not sure if they will have anymore since holidays are over and the stock seemed pretty low when I found them.

So after I removed Shiera's lip gloss, I decided that I need to fix her face colouring again since her head did not match her body. Let's take a walk down memory lane with poor Shiera's face ups:

(When Shiera first got home, a terrible rush job)

(After she was dyed, very unflattering eyeliner)

(A little better, left heavily coloured lips and orange toned chalk pastel face colour)

(No more coloured lips, but face is more orange)

(Completely cleaned face and started again, more subtle look)

(Added eyelashes and she is complete!)

Through the trial and error, this is the new Shiera. It look a lot of practice but now I am very happy with the end result. For her final face up, I added light chalk pastel to lips, painted lip lines, lip gloss and gloss to eye lids. I was subtle with the eye shadow, gave her some blush on the cheeks, nose and chin. Finally I gave her redder eyebrows which worked out nicely.
For those worried about dying dolls and removing the face up, I removed hers at least 4 times and the dye wasn't effected.

After playing around with Shiera, I gave Reily some lip lines and blush as well. I think she looks nicer but I feel there's still something missing:

Lastly I finally go to hang out with TADDMUG (Toronto-Area Dollfie Dream Meetup Group) since I haven't been to a meet up in a like.. 2 months (work has been a jerk) but I had a great time seeing everyone, catching up and seeing all the beautiful dollies! Here's a few photos:

Who knows what will happen next time, but until then!

Christmas List 2012

Hey guys!

For the past couple of days I have been looking for new dolls to add to my Christmas (well definitely not all for Christmas) list and I've got to say my heart was blown away when I saw these beauties.

First up is Sigui from Queen's Blade Rebellion by Azone International. Azone did a great job with her as she looks exactly like the character. I know other companies do character dolls but I feel that sometimes they don't look accurate but Sigui is spot on! The only concern I have is can you remove her boots? I emailed the website but they said they aren't sure yet so I have to wait until she's out. Either way, I'd love to find her under my Christmas tree!

Next on the Christmas list are these charming VMF50 beauties from Yamato Toys Risa and Yumi. Both girls come in a lovely tanned skin body with beautiful curves. I'd be happy to have any one them under my tree or having both of them would make it a very merry Christmas <3

Lastly on my Christmas list is the new SQ-Labs KSG-L 31cm body. I would like my head choice to be Silvia but I'm not sure if the head will fit the body since the KSG 26cm bodies they have their own smaller versions of the heads. I was thinking that it might work since for Dollfie Dreams you can use the same head for all the body sizes but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Well that's my Christmas list, most likely I'll choose one and hopefully I can get her in the new year. I'm trying to limit myself to one doll per year (which has not been working yet since I got all three of my girls this year).
In recent news at home, I decided to change Shiera's lipstick and hair style. I removed her lip colour with Windsor and Newton's brush cleaner and tried to blend in the empty area with chalk pastel but she needs more work. I'll work on her more during the holiday once I get some more supplies. Here's what happened and how she looks now:

Lip colour removed

Filled in with chalk pastel

I managed to straighten out her wig with our burning it! I think it looks better straightened and won't be missing the poof.

I'll end this post by adding a few pictures of Tai and Reily. Until next time!
